Girlfriend catches lover with another woman, slashes his face from mouth to ear

York, England: A York woman has been arrested for slashing her boyfriend's face from mouth to ear after she caught him kissing and cuddling another woman.

According to a report, 30-year-old Joylene Cunningham used a sharp blade to slash her boyfriend Sean Harman's face, following which he had to get 18 stitches.

When she was produced before the York Crown Court, she said the slash might have been caused due to the glass her boyfriend was holding. But, further investigations revealed that the glass was blunt. "The wound had been deep laceration in places, running virtually from Harman's mouth to his ear and causing a permanent scar," the judge was quoted as saying.

Knowing that it was difficult to escape, Cunningham later confessed to the crime. She said that she got furious when she saw Harman cheating on her. "He cuddled and kissed another woman. I felt pretty upset. I just stormed over and hit him."

However, Cunningham denied having a blade with her. She was adamant that the glass or the ring on her finger might have slashed Harman's face when she attacked and punched him. Moreover, Harman also defended his girlfriend's statement and said that she had hit him with the fist.

Having no past criminal record, Cunningham has been jailed for two and a half years.
