US: Heartbreaking video shows toddler trying to wake up mom after drug overdose

Massachusetts: A heartbreaking video showing a toddler making desperate efforts to wake her mother who fell unconscious after a drug overdose has surfaced online.

The incident took place in the US state of Massachusetts. The 36-year-old woman was found unconscious at a Family Dollar store in Lawrence.

In the video, the two-year-old girl is seen trying to wake up her mother who is lying unconscious on the floor. The toddler is seen wailing after her mother fails to wake up.

The matter was reported to police when a passer-by noticed the toddler crying. He immediately dialled 911 and informed the cops. The toddler is currently in the custody of Department of Children and Families.

According to reports, the woman would be charged with child endangerment. Some reports also suggested that the woman was under the influence of either oral heroin or a narcotic.
