US: Woman shoots house guests for being 'too loud', overstaying welcome

The woman later acknowledged to authorities that there was a phone in the house and she could have simply called 911 to make guests leave.

Washington: In a bizarre incident, a 32-year-old woman in the US opened fire at her house guests because they were "too loud" and had overstayed their welcome.

Alana Annette Savell was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm after she shot at two people, striking one, at her home in Panama City, Florida.

Bay County Sheriff's Office said, "The victim (Ms Kirsty Jo Mohr) stated she felt herself get hit in the legs and ran away from the home and got into a vehicle."

"Savell stated that the victim and her friend had come to her home to hang out and began drinking and getting too loud.

Savell stated she did not want them in her house and started shooting at their feet," the sheriff's office said.

"The suspect's boyfriend stated to investigators that he has told his girlfriend that once someone is told to leave their property three times, she is to go get the gun and shoot it at the ground. If that does not work, she is to shoot people in the leg," it said.

After firing the gun at the ground, Savell continued shooting as the man and woman left, striking the woman twice in the leg, the Washington Post reported.

Savell later acknowledged to authorities that there was a phone in the house and she could have simply called 911 to make the guests leave.

"The defendant stated that she knew she was wrong for shooting at the victim and Gary, but stated when she started shooting she could not stop," the affidavit read. Savell's boyfriend was also struck with a round in the leg during the incident that took place on Monday, the sheriff's office said. After the guests left, Savell put the handgun into a garbage can next to the house.

Sheriff's deputies were called around 2 AM to a hospital, where the female gunshot victim was receiving treatment. Savell was arrested about two hours later and taken to the Bay County Jail, where she is being held on a USD 100,000 bond.
