Dec. 3: Poor beneficiaries in Repalle, Vinukonda and Tenali municipalities are not getting the benefit of pavala vaddi scheme. While government had fixed a target of Rs 40.25 lakh subsidy for flood-affected Repalle, the municipality has released Rs 10 lakh till now and achieved 25 per cent of the target.
While the government fixed a target of Rs 27.78 lakh for Vinukonda municipality, the municipality released Rs 15 lakh only. Tenali availed Rs 31 lakh subsidy as against Rs 56.52 lakh.
Before the Assembly elections, the Telugu Desam president, Mr Chandrababu Naidu, promised that he would waive IKP loans if he returns to power. After the elections, beneficiaries are not paying their monthly instalments regularly.
Municipal officials are not creating awareness to beneficiaries who will get the benefit of pavala vaddi if they pay loan instalments regularly. Due to this, bankers are not showing interest to sanction fresh loans. They are planning to conduct a special drive to collect dues.
The lead bank manager, Mr P. Prasad, said that collections were gradually coming down after Assembly elections.
