KHAMMAM, Dec. 25: Demanding to start the Telangana statehood process immediately, the political parties in the district decided to intensify the agitation from December 26.
The CPI (ML) New Democracy, Mala Mahanadu, the CPI, the BJP, the BSP, the PDSU, the AISF and the MRPS leaders decided to to support the agitation and spread it to the village level to activate the people in the villages.
The CPI (ML) New Democracy decided to organise relay fasts in the villages in support of T-state on Saturday.
The relay fasts will be held in Khammam, Illendu, Bayyaram, Aswa-raopet, Malakapalli, Velerupadu, Kukkunuru and Sattupalli mandals from 6 am to 12 am. The leaders would see that the villagers do not cook anything in the houses.
Meanwhile, the teachers’ associations are also supporting the agitation for T-state.
The leaders supporting the T-state are resigning to their posts in the district.
The minister for cooperation and labour, Mr Ram Reddy Venkata Reddy and the government chief whip, Mr Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka resigned to their posts and faxed their resignations to the AICC president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi. Eight Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency members of the Telugu Desam, DCMS chairman Mr Nallamothu Appa Rao and some municipal councillors also resigned to their posts demanding T-state.
DCC general secretary, Mr Katla Ranga Rao, NSUI district president Mr Ramisetty Manohar and the Youth Congress district general secretary Mr Thota Satyam also resigned to their posts.
