  • BSF suspends officer over teenager’s killing

    The BSF has placed one of its senior officers, R.K.Bidri, under suspension and launched an internal inquiry into his conduct after his junior told the Srinagar police that 16-year-old Zahid Farooq was shot dead on the officer’s orders last week. The inquiry will be conducted by an inspector-general level officer.

    A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including grenades, detonators and over 10 kg of RDX, apparently meant for guerrilla strikes ahead of Republic Day, was recovered on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said.

  • Holed-up terrorists shot dead

    Security forces killed both militants holed up in a hotel at Lal Chowk in the heart of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar on Thursday ending a nearly 22-hour long standoff. One policeman and a civilian were also killed, and more than a dozen people — mostly civilians — were injured.
