India was the country of knowledge and it remains as the country of knowledge. It had shown the light and pioneered in many aspects in the world. But in course of time, the country has lost its way, said Union minister of state for health and family welfare Dinesh Trivedi.
The Indian tradition of medical excellence pre-dates the advent of writing. Dhanwantari, Sushruta and Charaka gave the knowledge of Ayurveda to the world.
India has laid claim to the world's first nose job, which according to scriptures, was conducted by Sushruta, who lived around 600 BC and is cited to have performed "sophisticated reconstructive surgery."
