When Oppo introduced the R15, it came sporting the traditional notch that is found on mostly all notched handsets. It appears that this design trend doesn’t work for Oppo anymore and to stick itself out from the crowd, the smartphone manufacturer is getting ready to launch a new device called the R17 that features a redesigned notch.
As per a report by GSMArena that obtained images from weibo, Oppo is looking to shrink down the notch and it now features a triangular design. The notch isn’t very large and it appears similar in size to the notch Essential uses with their handset.
The report goes on to state that the notch will house the selfie camera and the earpiece. However, as of yet, it is not clear where the proximity sensor and the ambient light sensor will be located. Also from the leaked images, we cannot tell if the handset will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner or one located at the rear. The report ends by stating that the R17 will be priced on the higher-end and it may come with as much as 10GB of RAM.
Oppo has recently teased the F9 Pro handset and it too will feature a similar kind of notch. Besides the design of the handset, nothing much else is known.
