Xiaomi Redmi 4: The energiser bunny of smartphones

The Redmi 4 comes with a huge 4,100 mAh battery and three storage/RAM variants.

Smart phones with huge batteries are an attractive proposition for consumers; especially those who need to spend a lot of time outdoors, and do not want to rely solely on power banks and car chargers. Most often, devices with large batteries are chunkier, sometimes heavier than their lesser power counterparts. Not all users that demand long-lasting batteries need larger screens. The market has not catered much to users of small handy devices with full day power.

The recently launched Redmi 4 is out to change things. This lightweight device comes with a 4100mAh battery at least lasts a day and a half with regular usage. The dual-SIM device has LTE and VoLTE capabilities and comes with a cute little fingerprint sensor on the back. While the long-lasting battery is key feature, the Redmi 4 camera performance is impressive too. With a 13MP back and 5MP front cameras, the device comes with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and selfie beautification capabilities that are pretty standard with devices these days.

Powered by the new Snapdragon 435 Octa-core processor, the Redmi 4 features seamless design with rounded corners and ultra-thin separation lines between hardware components. For small devices, rounded edges make the device sit snugly in the palm of your hand compared to ‘straight’ boxy phones.

Like in other Xiaomi phones, this device comes with MIUI features like trackball navigation, second space (where you can have a memory and app partition on your device), built in currency converter, among others. The metal body device is currently available in black and gold at mi.com and Amazon. The asking prices are Rs 6,999 (2GB + 16GB), Rs 8,999 (3GB + 32GB) and Rs 10,000 (4GB + 64GB), All three variants are expandable to up to 128GB.
