Xiaomi Redmi S2 coming soon: Everything we know

Xiaomi's another smartphone — Redmi S2 seems to be the company's next smartphone to hit the markets soon — based on the leaks and rumours. The Redmi S2 was recently spotted on TENAA's website and the handset has now been listed on China's 3C (Compulsory Certification of China) certification website, as per the 91Mobiles.

The 3C listing for the Redmi S2 does not reveal any specifications of the device but drops hints that the smartphone is nearing its launch in Xiaomi's home country. However, previous rumours suggest that the smartphone could come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at 2GHz.

The Redmi S2 is expected to run Android 8.1.0 Oreo. The leaks indicated that the device could feature a 5.99-inch HD+ LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Redmi S2 might be available in three variants — 2GB RAM/16GB storage, 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage with support for a microSD slot.

On the photography front, the Redmi S2 could feature a dual rear camera setup — one with a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor and the other one with a 5MP Samsung S5K5E8 sensor. On the front, the device might sport a 16MP camera. The phone will draw its power from a 3080mAh battery. The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is said to be available in eight colours — Black, Gold, Grey, Pink, Red, Rose gold, Silver, and White hues.

Additionally, the Chinese company has not yet confirmed any of these developments but it can't be that far away. However, the smartphone is expected to debut in India soon.

Besides, XDA Developers revealed that Xiaomi is also working on Mi Pad 4. A tablet PC which is rumoured to be powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset. The tablet will be fuelled by a 6000mAh battery. It could sport a 13MP rear camera sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, and a 5MP Samsung S5K5E8 camera sensor with a f/2.0 aperture for selfies.
