Gionee M6 & M6 Plus with data encryption chip launched

The M6 and M6 Plus come with massive batteries and data encryption chip.

Gionee today launched its M6 and M6 Plus smartphones at an event in Beijing, China. The Gionee M6 is priced at CNY 2,699 for the 64GB variant and CNY 2,899 for the 128GB variant. The Gionee M6 Plus 64GB variant will cost around CNY 2,999 and the 128GB variant is priced at CNY 3,199. The smartphones will ship in Champagne Gold and Mocha Gold colour variants.

The highlight of the devices is the data encryption feature of user’s content. The integrated data encryption chip secures the IM communication from being decrypted and also protects the data from viruses. However, only Chinese consumers can take advantage of the feature, while the global variants will only have a fingerprint sensor on the security front.

Talking of the Gionee M6, the device sports a 5.5 inch FHD AMOLED display with 1080*1920 pixel resolution with a pixel density of 401 ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM. It runs on company’s own Amigo 3.5 OS wrapped under Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

It packs a 13 MP rear camera with PDAF and LED flash, while there is an 8MP camera also on board. It also offers memory expansion with microSD card.

The smartphone is backed by a massive 5000 mAh battery and connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, Bluetooth, WLAN, USB OTG, and Micro-USB port.

The Gionee M6 Plus on the other hand, comes with a larger 6 inch display and has a 16 MP rear camera and has a bigger 6020 mAh battery. All other features are same as the latter.
