After Apple showed off the iPhone X with a hard-to-ignore notch running across the top of its screen — a way to make the display edge-to-edge, soon after several Android phone makers followed suit and embraced the notch display on their smartphones in 2018. Here are some of the budget to mid-range phones launched with a notch in India.

Innelo 1

Realme 2

Realme 2: The smartphone sports a glass-finish plastic panel, rendering a premium look. It runs on ColorOS 5.1 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. The Realme 2 features a 6.2-inch HD+ 19:9 panel with an 88.8 per cent of screen-to-body-ratio. It runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 450 chipset aided by an Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB RAM/32GB storage, and 4GB/64GB configuration. The storage is further expandable up to 256GB. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC, clubbed with an Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB/32GB of RAM, and 4GB/64GB of internal storage. Honor 9N: The smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top and is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset. The handset features a 5.84-inch 19:9 full HD+ FullView IPS display with 2.5D curved glass. There are three configurations, 3GB RAM/32GB storage, 4GB RAM/64GB storage and 4GB RAM/128GB storage. The storage is further expandable up to 256GB. The handset packs a 13MP+2MP dual camera system and a 16MP sensor for selfies. Honor has stuffed in a 3000mAh battery to keep the handset charged up. The price starts at Rs 11,999.

Vivo Y81

Vivo Y81: The device runs on FunTouch OS 4.0 atop Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and flaunts a 6.22-inch HD+ IPS 19:9 display. Nokia 5.1 Plus: The Android One smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32Gb of storage, which is expandable up to 400GB. As for the pricing, the company has not yet revealed the price of the smartphone and is expected to reveal the pricing details on September 24, as per the Flipkart listing.

Both the variants come with 64GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable up to 256GB. The major highlight of the phone is GPU Turbo technology that is said to boost performance by up to 60 per cent while also reducing battery consumption by up to 30 per cent. It bears a 16MP+2MP dual rear camera setup and a 16MP selfie sensor. The handset is powered by a 3750mAh battery under the hood. The Honor Play price starts at Rs 19,999.

Huawei P20 Lite: The P20 Lite runs on EMUI 8.0 atop Android 8.0 Oreo and sports a 5.84-inch full HD+ 19:9 display and has a 2.5D subtle curved glass design on the rear. POCO F1: This is the first smartphone from Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO. If you are on a tight budget, then the Redmi 6 Pro could be your best option, as it offers an overall good all-rounder performance. If a trendy and stylish design, stock Android, fluid performance coupled with good cameras is your priority, then the Nokia 6.1 Plus is the one you should pick.

Users can also opt for the Vivo V11 Pro or the OPPO F9 Pro if new features, stylish design is their priority over performance. The smartphones do deliver good camera performance and a reasonable overall usage experience. However, if you're looking to get your hands on the Snapdragon 845 at a relatively lower price margin, the POCO F1 is the best pick for you as it offers flagship grade chipset at an affordable price. There’s also the Honor Play that offers Kirin 970 SoC under the hood and delivers an excellent gaming performance and great all-around camera experience for 1000 less.
