LG to launch V30 with AI functions at MWC 2018

The V30 model was originally launched back in August 2017.

LG is reportedly gearing up to unveil a new variant of the V30 at the annual MWC in Barcelona late February. The V30 model was originally launched back in August 2017. There are currently two models of the V30 available in the market; the standard variant and the V30+. A new report suggests that the new variant is codenamed V30+ alpha or V30+a.

According to The Korean Herald, the refreshed model will have artificial intelligence capabilities and is expected to come with Google Assistant-based AI functions to enhance user's experience. As of now, it is not known whether the new smartphone would come with a dedicated AI chip.

Apart from LG, Samsung is reportedly developing its proprietary AI chips to make its future smartphones even smarter and the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ might debut with the under-process AI chips. Furthermore, the company is also said to be working on AI-supported hardware with the Galaxy Note 9 to enhance user's experience. In addition to that Apple has already dipped its hat by adding an A11 Bonic chip, powering the iPhone X. Huawei also has its Kirin 970 chipset with AI capabilities, available on the Mate 10 Pro.

Besides, a recent report suggests that the launch of LG G7 might get delayed. The LG G7 is likely to be the successor of the 2017's G6. The G7 was rumoured to launch at MWC 2018, with a release being planned for March.
