Meizu launches M6s with 18:9 display, super mBack button

Meizu's M6s launched with an 18:9 display and Samsung's Exynos processor in China.

Meizu has launched its latest smartphone — M6s with an 18:9 display, Samsung’s Exynos processor and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner in China. The Meizu M6s comes in two variants — the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model price starts at CNY 999 (approximately Rs 9,900) and the 3GB /64GB model is priced at CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs 11,900).

The smartphone will go on sale on January 19 via Jingdong, Lynx and Suning, before being made available through the Meizu Store on January 20 and offline stores soon after. The smartphone launched in China comes in four colour variants — Champagne Gold, Matte Black, Moon Silver and Cobalt Blue.

The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440x720 pixels along with a 2.5D curved glass protection. The smartphone screen boast of 450 nits brightness, wide viewing angles and 1000:1 contrast ratio. The Meizu M6s runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat with Flyme OS 6.2 on top. It is powered by a hexa core (two Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.6GHz) Samsung Exynos 7872 SoC with Mali-G71 GPU. The company claims that it is the first ever device to come with the 14nm Samsung Exynos 7872 chipset.

The M6s also includes a feature dubbed as “Super mBack” to navigate the smartphone through simple gestures such as swiping left, swiping right etc. The company terms it as a “virtual home button.”

Optics wise, the Meizu M6s sports a 16MP Samsung CMOS rear camera lens with a f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP front-facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture and adaptive beauty technology dubbed as ArcSoft Beauty Algorithm Adaptive Skinning Technology.

As mentioned above, there are two inbuilt storage variants available — 32GB/64GB. As for the Connectivity, the Meizu M6s includes Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 4G VoLTE. The phone draws power from 3000mAh battery and weighs about 160 grams.
