Turing and TCL join hands for next smartphone

The smartphone is dubbed as the Appassionato, will feature an AI assistant called Sir Alan'.

Turing Robotic Industries has announced its partnership with TCL Communications to produce the ‘world’s first mass-produced Liquidmorphium smartphone’ and is also said to develop a ‘feature amplified intelligence’ with a dedicated ‘enhanced-concierge service’.

The smartphone is dubbed as the Appassionato, will feature an AI assistant called ‘Sir Alan’ that claims to provide ‘finely-tuned, relevant lifestyle and business recommendations’. TCL will also use Turing’s mobile defence platform wrapped under the Android 7.11 and will be powered by a Qualcomm chip.

While TRI attracted headlines with its earlier efforts, its first Turing Phone – powered by Jolla’s Sailfish platform – was not welcomed with open arms. With the new partnership, Turing will get an experienced manufacturing partner, which already has some devices under its Alcatel and BlackBerry brands.

Turing said two versions of Appassionato will begin shipping in September 2017, with the ‘elite’ PX8 edition costing $1,099 and the ‘premium’ GX8 costing $1,599.
