Asus ZenFone Ares with 8GB RAM, Snapdragon 821 unveiled

The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

ASUS's newly launched Zenfone Ares focuses on features such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) and is essentially a revamped iteration of last year’s ZenFone AR. The Zenfone Ares runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box, which is a bit disappointing.

The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. At its heart, the device runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset aided by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The handset's hardware is compatible with Google's ARCore technology.

There is 23MP rear camera sensor, which sports a high-res PixelMaster 3.0 lens. The camera facilitates features such as motion tracking and depth sensing that will enable Augmented Reality experiences. Upfront, the device gets an 8MP camera sensor for selfies. The handset is kept alive by a 3300mAh battery, which also supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

The Asus Zenfone Ares retails at a price of TWD 9,999, which is approximately Rs 22,700, as per a report by GSMArena. As of now, there is no official word on whether the device will debut in India.
