Xiaomi discontinues Mi A1 in India, ahead of Mi 6X launch: Report
Mi fans, this is probably a bad news. Xiaomi has reportedly discontinued the Mi A1 in the Indian market. The smartphone which was first launched in September 2017 in India, is an Android One version of the Mi 5X aka Mi A1. The Mi 5X is sold as the Mi A1 in the Chinese market. This rumour gives us a pretty reliable sign that the long speculated Mi 6X aka Mi A2 is imminent.
91Mobiles reported that Xiaomi's preferred partners based in Delhi had revealed that the company last made deliveries of the Mi A1 a couple of months back, and and the supplies for Mi A1 were halted by the company after that.
While it is not clear why Xiaomi has chosen to terminate the popular Mi A1, there are speculations that this might be related to the forthcoming Mi A2. As per the latest reports, the Chinese company has scheduled a launch event for April 25 where it is anticipated to unveil the Mi 6X, which will retail as Mi A2 in the Indian market. Moreover, the previous reports suggested that Mi A2 might boot pure Android OS out-of-the-box.
As for the specifications, the Mi 6X could sport a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080pixels along with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz. The Mi A2 should run the latest Android 8.1 Oreo as part of Google’s Android One program.
On the photography front, the Mi A1 could pack 20MP+8MP dual rear camera setup. The front camera, on the other hand, could sport a 20MP shooter with a f/1.8 aperture. There will be a 4GB RAM/32GB version, a 6GB RAM/64GB variant, and a 6GB RAM/128GB model.
Additionally, the device might offer some Artificial Intelligence (AI) features. The smartphone could be fuelled by a 2910mAh battery. As for the pricing, the past trends hint at a starting price of RMB 1,499 (roughly Rs 15,000).
