Snow storm on the horizon

Forza Horizon's first major expansion is finally around the corner

Forza Horizon’s first major expansion is finally around the corner and it looks like things are going to get cold in Australia as we head over to Blizzard Mountain. The brand new campaign adds over 50 new events across extreme conditions with new modes such as Hill Climb, Descent and Blizzard Race events. There will also be a new bucket list and blueprint challenges along with 500 gamerscore up for grabs.

I’m excited about the new driving conditions because Forza Horizon 2’s Storm island left me with mixed feelings: While I enjoyed the concept of driving through a harsh storm, you just couldn’t see anything and it wasn’t much fun, but the pre and post storm weather was gorgeous. Hopefully that is something they have tweaked and mastered. The expansion is also introducing seven new vehicles better suited to the terrain including the expansions’ signature care, the 2016 Ford GYMKHANA 9 Focus RS RX. Players will also get to upgrade tires for the hazardous driving conditions during snow season.

A whole new festival site will be added, where you will be able to drive across a massive frozen lake, an extreme sports snow park and through alpine woods. Forza Horizon 3 was already the best open world racing game due to its great content, and because it supports cross-play between PC and Xbox. With this expansion it offers more, I just hope it’s well made in terms of weather effects and their impact on driving. Blizzard Mountain is available as part of the season pass which gives access to two expansions, or as a standalone purchase via Xbox One/Windows Store.
