Pokemon Go gets suspended for Windows Phones

The team also requested users not to ignore the warning as it could trigger a ban on their account.

The only way Windows Phone users could play Pokemon Go was through PoGo UWP, but the latest API changes introduced by Niantic forced PoGo developers to disable their game temporarily for Windows Phones.

According to a SoftPedia report, a post on GitHub by the developing team informed users about a warning they will receive after launch the game, after which it will close automatically.

The team also requested users not to ignore the warning as it could trigger a ban on their account.

The developing team said: “Today Niantic forced the update to 0.39 version, which breaks a lot of things API-wise. We decided to disable the game for everyone (app will launch but it will close after a warning popup) because it's not safe now.”

They have asked users to wait until the API has been reworked. “We're sorry for that, but we have no control on API changes,” the post added.

The PoGo creators also recommended Windows Phone users to disable unofficial versions of the game that do not come with such warnings, as it would lead to a ban on their accounts.

Although the game has become such a huge hit among smartphone users, Windows Phone users have not been able to play the game due to ignorance on part of Niantec.

Whenever third party developers tried to intervene and found ways to run the game, Niantec was quick in blocking them with newer updates.

A petition that now has 115,000 signatures was also filed earlier, asking Niantec to bring the game to Windows Phones.
