Hitachi introduces new flash storage line-up

The new flash storage line-up is powered by the Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System (SVOS).

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) today announced a new flash storage line-up that is powered by Hitachi’s Storage Virtualization Operating System.

This line-up is available for all new and existing Virtual Storage Platform G and F series systems.

The latest line-up comprises of two new VSP models namely VSP F1500 and the VSP G1500 which supports both open-system and mainframe applications.

The former is built on new density of FMDs with capacities of up to 14TB. The company claims that the VSP F1500 delivers over 4.8 IOPS and up to 40PB of flash capacity while scaling to 576 FMDs. It provides up to 2304 extra cores for handling data reduction.

On the other hand, the VSP G1500 offers 4.8M IOPS which is a 20 per cent improvement over VSP G1000. The VSP G1000 customers have the option of upgrading to VSP G1500 via a data-in-place, non-disruptive migration.

‘New versions of Hitachi Storage Advisor, Automation Director and Infrastructure Analytics Advisor enable customers to more easily implement new SVOS 7 functions and reduce IT operational costs and complexity,’ the company said in a statement.
