Tesla Motors Inc.’s Chief Executive Elon Musk announced on Twitter that they will unveil their new solar roof on October 28.
“Aiming for Oct 28 unveil in SF Bay Area of new Tesla/SolarCity solar roof with integrated Powerwall 2.0 battery and Tesla charger,” Elon Musk tweeted.
The new solar roof will be integrated with version 2.0 of the Tesla’s PowerWall solar storage battery which will expand compatibility requirements for homes as well as Tesla car chargers.
This isn’t the first time Tesla has attempted at entering the roofing business. Musk said the roof would be "a fundamental part of achieving differentiated product strategy, where you have a beautiful roof. It's not a thing on the roof. It is the roof, which is a quite difficult engineering challenge and not something that is available anywhere else."
