Amazon partners with Dharma Productions before Prime Video launch

Amazon has announced that it has struck a licensing deal with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions to showcase blockbusters.

Amazon recently unveiled its Prime Video service in India where users could gain access to Amazon Original Series and movies along with blockbuster TV shows. The U.S. based online shopping giant has now announced its partnership with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. This will now allow users to obtain access to the upcoming releases and existing blockbusters from Dharma.

Upcoming movies including ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, ‘Ok Jannu’ and Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ will be premiering on the Prime Video streaming platform. The library will also consist of movies like Kapoor and Sons, Brothers, Shaandaar, Gori Tere Pyar Main, Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani, Student of the Year, Kal Ho Na Ho and the list is never ending.

“We are excited to have Dharma Productions’ library and future slate of titles for the upcoming launch of Prime Video. We know our members are going to love the broad selection of films and stories,” said Nitesh Kripalani, Director and Country Head, Amazon Video India.

The Prime Video service is expected to be launched in India in the coming months.
