Group of Technology Companies leaders seek focus on innovations

Mr K. Nanda Kumar is the new chairman of GTech

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The new leaders of Group of Technology Companies (GTech) have urged the LDF government to focus on innovations and entrepreneurship in the state. Mr K. Nanda Kumar, president and chief executive officer of SunTec, is the new chairman of GTech and Mr P. Vijay Kumar, chief executive officer of Testhouse, the new secretary.

They urged that the new government give due importance to IT and related industries which were key factors of economic development, employment generation and local wealth creation. “We can no longer ride on the past glory of having set up the first technology park in the country. It is time for a revamp in several policies and an enhanced outlay in the budget to help the industry grow further,” Mr. Nanda Kumar said.

Mr. Vijay Kumar said that the government should see the IT industry as being the largest vehicle to create the maximum number of white collar jobs for the youths. “Our target should be to take the state's contribution to the total IT exports of the country from a mere one percent to a five percent,” he said.
