Mumbai: After riding on the success of the popular OnePlus 2, Chinese smartphone giant OnePlus is all set to introduce its latest device with even more grandeur. The company will be launching the upcoming OnePlus 3 on a Virtual Space Station, dubbed the Loop.

Pointing out the benefits of VR, OnePlus Co-founder Carl Pei, said, “We’re upping the ante. We believe we, and the tech industry as a whole, have only scratched the surface of what can be done in VR, and there are much more immersive experiences to be had.”

He also explained that the idea originally emerged from a fan video and shared his outlook on where OnePlus would be decades from now, having its headquarters in space.

Last year, the company had given away a total of 30,000 OnePlus Cardboard viewers to users for free. Similarly, this year the company have upped the ante and made available around 30,000 OnePlus VR Loop headsets for free on their website, along with a nominal charge. However, the headsets went out of stock in no time.

Pei tweeted this morning about the shortage of stock. He said that several orders still left unpaid and they’ll be cancelling them in the next few hours.

The upgraded VR headsets have been developed in partnership with AntVr. Pei explained that the OnePlus Loop VR headset will be a lot better in contrast to last year's VR cardboard offering.

On the basis of rumours doing rounds on the internet, the model is pegged to come in two versions: one with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM; the other with 64GB internal storage along with 6GB RAM. The devices will either accompany a 3,000 or 3,500mAh battery.

Lastly, the device is expected to feature an AMOLED display, Sanpdragon 820 SoC, and an all metal body design.
