WhatsApp closer to add 'Recall' message feature

The 'Recall' feature will allow users to revoke recent misdirected messages.

Mobile messaging platform WhatsApp is closer to introducing the long-rumoured ‘Recall’ feature within the app, according to WABetaInfo, a fan site that tests new WhatsApp features.

The website had earlier notified availability of ‘Recall’ feature on Beta version of the Whatsapp, a feature that will allow users to revoke recent misdirected messages: text, GIFs, documents, quoted messages and status replies within a five-minute window. However, it was unknown when WhatsApp would roll out the feature.

“WhatsApp has added in beta the possibility to edit messages that you already sent. It is actually disabled by default and it’s under development,” an earlier tweet from WABetaInfo read.

And now, WABetaInfo has claimed the new feature could be introduced soon. Reports suggest “Recall” will be enabled in the “2.17.30+” version of the app.

Interestingly, WhastApp has already rolled out “2.17.30” version to the iOS platform in its latest update, bringing in albums, colour filter and reply shortcuts to the app. The update is yet to arrive on Android OS. Since WhastApp has made the “2.17.30” to one of the operating system and with reports touting “recall” feature to be rolled out with “2.17.30+” version, users can expect the new to arrive anytime soon on WhatsApp.
