Apple reduces USB-C adapter prices, amid MacBook Pro criticism

Apple's new MacBook Pro has been criticised was carrying only USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Apple is temporarily reducing price of all its USB-C adapters after its new MacBook Pro was criticised for only carrying Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports.

In a statement, Apple said, “We recognize that many users, especially pros, rely on legacy connectors to get work done today and they face a transition. We want to help them move to the latest technology and peripherals, as well as accelerate the growth of this new ecosystem. Through the end of the year, we are reducing prices on all USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 peripherals we sell, as well as the prices on Apple's USB-C adapters and cables.”

Apple has cut the price of USB-C adapters by $6 to $20. The standard USB-C to USB adapter, formerly priced at $19 will now cost $9, the $49 USB-C Digital AV Multiport adapter will now cost $49, the 1m USB-C to Lightning Cable will now cost $19, while the 2m USB-C to Lightning Cable will cost $29. Additionally, Apple newly released Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter cost has been cut to $29 from $49.
