Pradeep , a popular VJ, on the Isai Aruvi channel turns hero in a film titled Kurunila Mannan. The movie directed by debutant Murugaiya is an intense story about simpletons who live in a remote village near Karaikudi and how their life unfolds sans romance.
“In this technology-driven world, there are those who have their share of joy and sorrow and my film deals with such people,” says director Murugaiya.
Pradeep underwent training at the well-known acting school Koothu-Pattarai to chip away at his city slickness so that he would be believable as a village youth. Some 50 people from the Sivagangai area with no experience in acting are also being introduced by producer Nisha Kennedy.
Vidhya, who has acted in films such as Pasanga, plays the lead heroine. Johan, a student of A.R. Rahman's school of music — the KM Music Conservatory — has composed the tracks. The song Marudhupandi Brothers penned by Na Muthukumar, which is said to have come out of intense research is one of the highlights.
