Guys go for Goth look

Winter is setting in — it’s time for the jackets and hats to come out of hibernation from the back of your wardrobe. Many have already started to splurge on fashionable winter wear to keep them warm and also give out the right fashion statement. Brand consultant Ashish Nair says, fashion conscious men could spend anything from Rs 20,000 for a pair of Diesel jeans, upto Rs 2 lakhs for a Su Misura suit from Ermenegildo Zegna.
Designers are of the view that of late, it’s the hunks who are splurging more on clothes and accessories. “There has been a complete diversion to men’s fashion with a ‘fashion week’ specially dedicated to us,” says prominent designer Raj Shroff. According to him, Gothic outfits are becoming very popular.
“It’s the mix between punk and formal wear that is gaining popularity,” adds Raj. As for the colour palette, it’s deeper shades like purple, black, blue, indigo and metallic colours.
But many prefer the casual winter look. Model Aroon Pemmaiah is currently shopping for turtlenecks, full-sleeved
T-shirts, high cut boots and scarves. “Denims and turtlenecks are a must for winters. A jacket or a coat on top completes the look,” says Aroon, who doesn’t wear too many accessories apart from a hat.
According to Ashish Nair, the classic black suit, with a well-tailored white shirt and sleek black tie, is the perfect outfit for the winters.
“You will be perfectly dressed for any formal occasion, be it a sit-down dinner or a board meeting. Superlative tailoring and a high quality fabrics, are key to getting this look right. Accessorise it with designer shoes and a formal watch,” he says.
Others are looking for clothes that can create the perfect fashion statement. Model Bassan Mallick is excited about sporting his new narrow bottom trousers. “I would love to wear it with a pair of formal shoes, a perfectly fitted Calvin Klein shirt and a semi-formal jacket.”
