My favourite shoot is the one I did for my first bridal collection. I worked for six months and went to various parts of India to source the fabrics and find new techniques of embroidery.
The shoot was done in 2003 and the model was Gauhar Khan. It was done in a studio by a freelance fashion photographer.
The theme of the shoot was ‘Aspiration of the Bride.’ I believe a girl’s marriage is the most important occasion of her life. So her trousseau needs to reflect that sentiment. We sourced the richest fabric available in India from Varanasi known as Kinkhab. We used it for lehengas and gave it modern cuts. So the amalgamation of traditional fabrics and embroidery with modern cuts gave the collection a unique touch.
