A best friend lost

I understood the old saying, “The value of friendship is seldom known until it’s lost,” when I lost Dixcie on January 2. He was my best friend. Although he was 12 years old and was suffering from heart problems, we weren’t ready for his demise. We believed that he will be around for us to love and spoil him for years to come.
I still remember the day he was brought home. We picked him up from a shelter all those years ago, and he looked like a tiny bundle of joy. We have had many pets before but Dixcie made a special place for himself in all of our hearts. He wasn’t just a dog, but an important part of our family and we all loved him.
Apart from a family member, Dixcie was also the best friend that I ever had. He loved me unconditionally. He was very loyal to me and was always there for me whenever I needed a friend to share my laughter and sorrows. Dixcie was a happy-go-lucky dog. He enjoyed his life and had a good time with our family. He took care of my mother and whenever she fell sick, Dixcie followed her in the house. I loved taking him down for walks. When tied to his leash, he attempted attacking all other dogs but the minute I would let him loose, he behaved like a ‘gentleman.’ He was a very playful dog and loved to play with soft toys. He loved eating cake, Ice cream and tandoori chicken. Dixcie was a wonderful friend who will never be forgotten.
