I have so many Ayyo Auto experiences to share. Commuting by autos is not easy in Bengaluru as there is no authority to keep a check on the auto drivers. I am a student of St. Joseph College of Commerce and I live in Commercial Street.
Although my college is just 2 km away from my house, the auto drivers charge Rs 40 and above. They do not get passengers around our college and therefore, ask for double the price to drop us at the college gate. It is very irritating to start your morning with such an experience.
On the days when I have a little time on my hand, I try to negotiate, but on other days I end up paying double the meter.
Also, I walk back home after college as the auto drivers refuse to give me a ride till Commercial Street. So, no matter how tired I am, I have to walk back home. Recently during exams, I took an auto till my college. The guy took a wrong turn and entered a one-way lane. When he was caught by the traffic police, he started blaming me. He told them that he was new to the city and I had asked him to take that road.
He was fined Rs 100 by the officer, out of which I had to pay Rs 50 for “asking him to take that road”. I was getting late for my exam and so, I just paid the auto driver, and the officer and ran off. I don’t know where to lodge a complaint, but don’t these auto drivers have a conscious? The auto drivers also charge double meter if you are carrying extra luggage. We need a solution here!
