Bengaluru boy Jeetin Rangher is mighty kicked about what the next couple of months have in store for him. This 28-year-old artist has been chosen to represent the city in ‘Art Karavan International 2010’ in the ‘Fine Arts’ segment. “This event kicks off from Santiniketan (West Bengal) on February 12. It comprises six stages and is spread across various cities such as Jammu, Patna, Lucknow, Srinagar, Dehradun, Shimla, Ranchi and Delhi. The duration of the camp is two months. It will have installation artists, performing artistes, poets and musicians from India as well as abroad coming together at one forum and exchanging knowledge and ideas,” says Jeetin.
This talented artist who holds a diploma from Ken School of Art and a degree in Fine Arts from Bangalore University, specialises in the medium — acrylic on canvas. “I would like to broaden my horizon and work with installations during the course of this camp. We will be travelling to various Indian cities and creating art and installations and performing song and dance activities that go with the culture of that place. I have never dabbled in performing art, and I just might do that at this camp,” he says.
Jeetin is excited about visiting Santiniketan and Jammu the most. “These are places that I have always dreamt of visiting,” he says, adding, “There will also be many international artists and gallery owners at the camp. I intend to learn new concepts from them, show them my work, build my contacts and show my art abroad one day. There’s nothing like meeting people in person and discussing art with them, as opposed to interacting with them online.”
