'24' for aspiring filmmakers

The mission of 24 is to introduce world-class cinema, documentaries, animation and filmmaking to interested persons and to appreciate the medium.

Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) announces the launch of a film club named, 24, at the University.

24 will accomplish its mission through screening films, documentaries, animation movies followed by discussions, inviting filmmakers and film thinkers to CUTN for screenings and seminars, holding workshops on aspects of filmmaking and organising film festivals.

24 will be held on the second and fifth Wednesdays of every month between 02.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. at the Multipurpose Hall, Central University of Tamil Nadu.

Any interested persons could walk in to 24; however, interested students from educational institutions are encouraged to participate.

The inauguration of 24 will be held on 16 August 2011 at the Multipurpose Hall, Central University of Tamil Nadu, at 02.00 p.m. 24 will be inaugurated by the acclaimed documentary filmmaker, Mr. R. P. Amudhan, a recipient of numerous national and international awards.

Two socially sensitive documentary films titled Notes from the Crematorium and Mercury in the Mist will be screened on the occasion. Thereafter, the participants can interact with the director of the documentary films.

I am quite happy that Central University has joined the group which loves and appreciates films. The students and faculty are extremely privileged to have this sort of a club in the university. Now I am looking forward to meeting interesting people from the field of films. Kudos to the convenor, Dr. Alex.
