Bhavan’s Vivekananda Degree College celebrated their annual intra-college fest “Yuva Mahotsav-2011” going back to the roots. With the theme of the event being ‘traditional wear,’ all the students flaunted their customary apparel and with a lot of pride too.
The events saw participation from various departments of the college who battled it out for the rolling trophy. Harika, from the commerce department says, “We won the trophy last year and we are doing our best to retain it this year as well.” Unlike last year, the crowd was very responsive and interested in all the activities taking place and celebrated as one. It just so happened that last year the fest did not follow a key theme like this year’s fest and maybe that’s what made all the difference! Even though everyone flaunted their own traditional apparel, it managed to unite the lot who celebrated the day with joy.
The group dance shows were the highlight of the day. Dance team ‘I am Street’ knocked the crowd off their feet with their B-boying performance. Shravan, a member of the dance crew says “We worked really hard and we knew that we were going to stun the audience with the crazy moves we practiced.”
Not everything went according to plan though. There was some mischievous occurrences behind the scenes. Someone burst a firecracker and managed to create chaos in the crowd, but it was short-lived. The principeal gained quick control of the chaos and everything was back to normal.
