At Gowtham Junior College, Mehdipatnam, we believe it doesn’t take much effort to make life exciting. All you need is a little imagination and the desire to do so. We like to make humdrum Mondays or Tuesdays, or any other boring day, a bit special. Every other day you may find a group in our college celebrating something: Saturdays, fun days, half birthdays, haircuts, pets’ birthdays, new jeans, seasons, report cards, parents getting a raise, braces on, braces off, Dhoni’s century, Pathan’s wickets, free periods, last exams, discounts, crushes and break-ups!
The college encourages us to have a positive outlook, enthusiasm and a motivated mind and body to make each day amazing. The snacks served at the canteen are not bad, but the variety is limited. When we are bored, we feel like ordering food from outside and the on-campus ayahs are always ready to help out, in return for a good tip. Groups are formed here much like any other college. Walk through one of the corridors and you will come across a great mix of students: the “behenjis”, hot and happening, humdrum ones, “dramebaaz”, book worms, the teacher’s pets, the blabber mouths and the down-to-earth.
If you happen to buy new shoes, the biggest mistake would be wearing them to college! New shoes are never missed here. In fact, they are given a special honour — stamping! Yes, that’s right, random students may walk up to you, engage you in a conversation and then run away after stamping your shoes, leaving you cursing yourself for choosing this place to flaunt your new shoes. There is never a dull moment, indeed.
