Elan exceeds expectations

When the planning of Elan, the IIT-H’s annual fest was just a mention in November last year, it naturally attracted a lot of attention, and with it a whole load of expectations too. The three-day fest was to have an entire gamut of events including, online competitions such as T – designing, photography and the likes. So profound was the planning and publicity, mostly by word of mouth among college students in the city, that it culminated in such an explosive of events.

“The response to the fest exceeded our expectations. All we wanted was a better response from last year,” says Prince Gupta, Elan’s core team member. College fests are an annual routine, but the IITians never settle for anything mundane. What made Elan such a success this year were the out-of-the-box events that the organisers conceptualised. Explaining their modus operandi, Arnav Mohan says, “We scheduled many experimental events around the time when a large number of students were expected to pour in for the Pakistani band, Raeth.”
