* Liquor baron Vijay Mallya was in town recently and he checked into the Falaknuma Palace to enjoy some royal treatment. Mallya who enjoyed his stay here took to twitter to tell people what a great time he had. He tweeted, “Staying at the Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad. Truly Magnificent. All Indians should feel proud of our history and these wonderful memoirs.”
Not in the same league as Mallya of course, but the DJ of Istanbul’s premier nightclub Raina will be in town this weekend. He has been flown down by the EOs who are having a major event this weekend. After a hard day of work they plan to unwind with some fun entertainment.
* It’s time for celebrations in the Sharma-Pestonji household as Kaizad Pestonji and Shagun Sharma have announced their engagement plans. The engagement will be in March end and the wedding is scheduled for sometime next year.
* Hyderabad’s most popular NRI Hyma Reddy is in town and every day there are lunches and dinners being hosted in her honour. Though it’s really hectic to be out for lunch and dinner every day, none of the guests are complaining cos they love catching up with Hyma who is a wonderful host to all in New York.
* Indira Subbarami Reddy has been MIA in many social dos as she’s working hard at her soon-to-be opened hotel, the Grand Hyatt. Indira is not just motivating the entire workforce at the hotel but also pitching in to ensure they finish all the work quickly and open the hotel in May.
* Cricketer Shaun Tait was spotted partying in town on Wednesday night. He was here to attend a wedding. Another India connection that Shaun apparently has, is his girlfriend, who lives in Mumbai.
* Did you know actress Kajal Agarwal is related to Sanjiv Gupta? We hear she is a distant cousin’s daughter. So folks, if she’s at a party at Sanjiv’s place next time, don’t be surprised.
* Anju Khemani apparently is moving back to Hyderabad. She had moved briefly to Bengaluru with her kids. While nobody really knows what prompted her to come back, we hear she is on the lookout for a nice place to stay in. Anju is a nice person, lives in her own world, apolitical, doesn’t indulge in gossip of any sort but sadly, is very misunderstood.
* A majority of the ladies in a kitty group were like-minded — Telugus to be precise — barring a few. After running this kitty for years, suddenly the ladies felt it was time to politely ask the “non-like-minded” ones, especially those aged 60 and above, to leave. They came up with a master plan. Said they wanted to discontinue the kitty and barely two months after doing so, they grouped together and re-started it, excluding the ones they didn’t want.

Gautam Reddy, son of MP Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy, who is a very close confidant of YSR’s son Jagan, is said to be contesting the 2014 elections from Jagan’s party.
Many believe Jagan will spring a surprise in the elections and if it does come true, then this Mekapati family will be very powerful — father-son as MPs — as they have really stood by Jagan throughout.

* A young girl who recently got married, decided to call it off as she felt her husband “was just not her type”. Fortunately for her, her ex-boyfriend is still not married, so she’s gone right back to him.

Who has a great sense of humour? Minister Anam Vivekananda Reddy’s son Karthik who is married to minister D.K. Aruna’s second daughter Snigdha. He is a riot and can keep people entertained for hours with his anecdotes. If he chooses to enter politics, the public will find him very endearing.
What are we soon going to see in town? Gym wars. Sheetal Bangur is opening a super-posh gym in Jubilee Hills, then another famous global chain is planning to come in and set up not just a gym but a squash court, swimming pool and the works. Existing gyms are already feeling nervous.
