Hundred schools participated in the biggest Information Technology quiz in the country, a social initiative by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) started 13 years ago.
Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramaniam conducted the quiz on Friday, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Basheerbagh.
Six finalists finally took stage where they fought a tough battle to win the IT Wiz cup. The finals comprised of five rounds with technical and serious questions to questions on the silly and sublime. The event ended with Syed Murtuza and Umair from Sri Chaitanya Junior College being crowned winners. The duo answered every question thrown at them. On winning, Syed said, “I’m very excited with the win and that we will be representing Hyderabad at the national level quiz.”
While students find it difficult to balance their studies and extra-curricular activities, Umair says, “It wasn’t really difficult for us to cope up with our studies. We would prepare for the quiz for an hour or two every day.” Aakash, a runner-up from Gitanjali Senior School says, “ We are happy that we participated and got this far and hopefully we can win next year.” The host praises the city talent and says, “Hyderabad students have inquisitive minds and this city produces the maximum number of winners in such quizzes. They are tough to beat and compared to the last Wiz in Bangalore”.
