“We scour the planet to bring you the best of Indo-cool”, says the tagline of the Republic of Brown (ROB). This is the latest site to join the World Wide Web. Whether it is style, people, music, books, travelling, food or a healthy body, anything Indian is cool. News about South Asians across the globe and gossip about Bollywood dominates this website. Want your fill on the latest Indian haute couture or want to know what Frieda Pinto is up to? This website gives you all that and more. “It is an interesting platform. I like the sections — style, read and people. I particularly like the style section, because whenever there is something new happening in the Indian fashion circuit, they trace it to Hollywood. And recently they had a feature about how all the Hollywood stars who like yoga have a common yoga guru,” says Ranjeet, advertising professional.
Not just news, they even have interactive columns written by popular Indians. They also get Indian travellers to write about their travel experiences. If you have had enough of travelling then check out their Glow section. Here you get all the tips on how to stay fit and glowing. Jane Fonda of India, Sarina Jain, not only writes about how to stay healthy by grooving to Bhangra, she also guides you to master the dance moves to impress the wedding party. “I like the fact that they get such big names to write for them,” says student Juhaina. So for a dose of all that is Indo-cool, check out the Republic of Brown.
