When renowned lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri decided to turn filmmaker, there was no doubt he’ll go for a poignant theme.

But none would’ve thought it will be so unusual. “Love cuts across all boundaries. In my movie, Mazhavillinattam Vare, I have expressed this through the life-changing journey of a young Pakistani cricketer and a college student, who falls in love with him,” he said.

Among those excited with the theme of geographic boundaries influencing relationships was CM Oommen Chandy, who attended the movie’s music launch.

“I remember how I was marooned in the US with my wife once, after our flight met with an accident. Even though we were strangers, some Americans arranged our accommodation.

They told me that they love India a lot, since many Indians live there and treated us so well that we will remain obliged to them forever,” he said. Mammootty, the evergreen hero, expressed confidence in Kaithapram’s brilliance. “With such a highly relevant topic, I am sure his venture will enlighten the masses,” he said.

Director Siddique shared his experience when he accidentally went into a Pakistani mosque in Dubai for his Friday prayers.

“The moment I realised I was standing in the midst of thousands of Pakistanis, a chill went down my spine. But after finishing my prayers, I was embarrassed about my thoughts. It is high time we rose above such divisions,” he says.
