When Yuvraj Singh returns from the US after finishing his cancer treatment, he can make use of the upcoming book, Think Like a Champion, to get into the right frame of mind to get back to international cricket.

West Indian psychologist Rudi Webster, who has written the book, says from Granada, “I interviewed Dhoni, Dravid, Laxman, Sobers, Lloyd, Lillee and other players for the book. The news about Yuvraj Singh's illness came too late and hence I could not accommodate him in this book.”

To get an insight into how to get back into the circuit post-treatment, Yuvi has been reading seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong’s book It’s not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life. Armstrong had beaten testicular cancer and made a successful comeback to competitive cycling.

The 73-year-old Webster, who has played cricket for Scotland, Otago and Warwickshire, is best known as a sports psychologist. He studied Medicine at Edinburgh University in Scotland and later did his postgraduate studies at universities in New Zealand and Australia.

“The book is about the mental part of performance and each player interviewed gives his own recipe for success and talks about what they think improve performance,” adds Webster.

“Clive Lloyd talks about the things that made the West Indies a great team and Dhoni tells why India are such a good team. These champions give advice to young players about the things that will help them get the best out of themselves on the field,” he says.

In India, the book will be published by Harper & Collins. “I have had a few sessions with Yuvraj Singh during my interaction with Team India. I would like to wish him all the best for his treatment and recovery. I don't know about the sensitivity of his cancer, but I hope all goes well for him. He is in good hands in Boston, USA,” concludes Webster.
