Jr NTR has reportedly dropped the idea of launching an entertainment channel. NTR had taken up the reins of Studio N Channel a while ago and had resolved to expand its content.
He had pruned the monthly budgets from Rs 1 crore to Rs 50 lakh and his team had also begun to procure films. With the satellite rights of Telugu films being pegged around Rs 5 crore per movie, the team had resolved to buy dubbed versions and then procure star-studded films.
“Despite his efforts, the news channel hasn’t moved up the table of TRP ratings, so they have dropped the idea of the entertainment channel as that could further dry up his resources. Apparently, they are screening the films that they bought on the news channel itself,” says a member of a top-ranking channel.
However, a source close to the star denies such reports. “We are stuck with some formalities, but the channel is definitely on track. We just deferred the launch and haven’t shelved it,” he says.
Looks like it may be only Nagarjuna who will boast of owning a channel, as other stars seem to be giving up midway.
