While Valentine’s Day parties are on in full force, youngsters no longer feel that if they are not in a relationship they will be seen as social outcasts.

Gone are the days when girls or boys would mope at home and feel insecure just because they do not have a boyfriend or girlfriend. A good friends’ circle is more important. These days it’s all about loving yourself first.

This “me first” attitude is also evident in our stars and some of the hottest people in the country feel that it’s cool to be single. For Valentine’s Day we asked some of them about their take on the day of love.

I have two Valentines right now, my soon to be released films! Work has been really hectic and even on Valentine’s Day, I will be dubbing for my film. With the happy space that I am in personally, I really don’t feel the need to be in a relationship.

Sonam Kapoor, actress

I’ve already planned my evening. It’s my good friend Kari’s birthday, so my girl pals have organised a dinner for us. I’m going to wear my best dress and try to look my best — just for myself. For us, a girls’ night out equals a gala time and that’s exactly what this Valentine’s Day will be for me.

Nisha Agarwal, Actress

I don’t feel there’s pressure to be with someone special anymore on Valentine’s Day, especially if you are single. I am doing something special for my friends instead and have made Kahlua cherry chocolate cupcakes for the occasion.

I am not dating anyone and there is no need to have special plans. No big plans for the V-Day.

For years, I’ve always been in a relationship. This Valentine’s I’m single. I want to celebrate and flaunt my single status, so I’m going to go all out to pamper myself. I have a great set of friends who love me unconditionally, and I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with them.

I guess Valentine’s Day is celebration time for people in love. Right now I am not in a relationship, so I’ll be at home... loving myself, ha ha! Also, I am unwell and most of my girlfriends have plans, so no particular agenda on the cards. I guess, the day would hold more importance in future when I am in love and then I would celebrate it to the fullest.
