Most of us have seen him as a fiery pacer knocking off stumps on numerous occasions, but not many know Shaun Tait’s other side. The fast bowling sensation scorched the ramp in the city last year, as showstopper for Wendell Rodricks’ fashion show. “My girlfriend Mashoom Singha, who is a model herself, convinced me to go for it and it was great fun,” said Shaun about the experience.

In Hyderabad to attend a wedding, he shared, “My friend Vishal Reddy got married. I met him 18 months ago through Mashoom. After the wedding we’re going to Delhi, where I hope to dance to some Punjabi numbers.”

On India’s on-going tour of Australia, he said, “It is sad to see the below par performance of the Indian team, which actually has great players. But it’s not that easy to play in Australia. The Australian team is very tough to beat and they are very hardworking.” When asked if he plans to return to the national side in the ODIs and Tests, he said, “As of now, I’m concentrating on T20s due to my frequent injuries.”

About Yuvraj Singh’s battle with cancer, Shaun said, “It is very sad to hear about him. I know him, he is such a fighter and I’m sure he will come back to cricket.” IPL5 may be almost two months away but Shaun has already begun to sweat it out. “I started with a bit of gym and running. I should be going full steam in the coming weeks. I am really looking forward to performing well in the coming season,” he said.

About his team, the Rajasthan Royals’ chances in the competition, Shaun said, “We have a fantastic team. I feel we should be a much tougher opponent this year as we got some good players at the recently held auctions in Bengaluru. There is a heady mix of experience with the likes of Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson and Ross Tayor and some good young Indian talent, which should make us a formidable unit in IPL5.”

On Dravid as the new captain, Shaun commented, “I have been with Rajasthan Royals for three to four years now. It’s been a nice time and I’m looking forward to playing under Rahul. Everyone knows he is a good man and a great player.” About the Deccan Chargers, he said, “I have good friends from Australia playing in that team so it doesn’t seem like a rival team. I think that’s the good thing about the IPL, as you are playing against your own countrymen and friends.”

About the special lady in his life he said, “I met Mashoom at an IPL after-party during a modelling show and it kicked off from there. As IPL will be held in India this year, I will spend as much time with her as possible.” he concluded.
