She gives you a smouldering look from under her lashes as she stands poised against the backdrop of a moss clad wall. She is the face of the Miss Kerala 2012 desk top calendar which is as sleek and as chic as the models featured in it.
The calendar was unveiled by two former Miss Kerala’s — Rohini Mariam Idiculla and Rima Kallingal along with the reigning Miss Kerala, Elizabeth Thadhikaran as a prelude to the official announcement of the date of the pageant: July 28.
Ram Menon, Director of Impresario, a company that conducts the pageant explains the calendar’s concept in its third year, “We were inspired by the Kingfisher calendar but did not want to follow its look.
We wanted to give a Kerala feel and so decided to incorporate local elements along with locations around Kochi using three models — Elizabeth, Sruthi Nair and Maria John.’’ The major portion of the shoot was done at the Hill Palace.
And if you thought a team of experts was behind this calendar’s making, nothing could be more off the mark. The photographer, stylists and designers were all talented amateurs. Ram adds, “That was the idea — to get a young mix of amateurs and few professionals to deliver a wonderful project and provide a launch pad for all associated with the calendar.”
Says photographer Tijo John, “When I saw the location, I never thought it would transfer so beautifully onto the frames. The location was decided in the morning. I went, scouted around the place and finished the shoot in three days working around restrictions of time.’’
