For their upcoming film Kismat,Love,Paisa,Dilli, Mallika Sherawat has convinced co-star Vivek Oberoi that she’ll do what it takes to make the newlywed actor comfortable during a kissing scene.
Getting intimate with a co-star on the sets of a movie surrounded by the cast, technicians and spot boys can be unnerving but actors have their own strategy to tackle the situation.
For Arunoday Singh, who was seen locking lips with Aditi Rao Hydari in Yeh Saali Zindagi, it is all about creating a comfort zone with the co-star. “If your co-star is at ease and you trust the director, then it really isn’t as big a deal as it is often made out to be. It is important for everybody on the sets to create a comfortable environment,” he says.
Besides the actor needs to be convinced that the kiss is an essential part of the plot and isn’t for sleaze value, believes Arunoday. While most actors feel that it is important to get to know their co-stars better before shooting such scenes, actor Ashmit Patel doesn’t agree.
“I have shot intimate scenes with actresses like Mallika(Sherawat), Mahima (Chaudhary) and even Urmila Matondkar. When you are really good friends, the intimacy that is required in such scenes doesn’t come through. When there is a certain distance between the two of you, the mystery and intrigue add to the chemistry. If you prepare and rehearse, you lose the spontaneity that is required in such scenes,” he says.
At the end of it all, it’s the director’s vision that makes all the difference as Vikram Bhatt points out, “The actors play a huge role in the final verdict of the scene, but to carry off a love making scene, you need a director who will shoot it aesthetically.”
