The latest celeb couple to be in a live-in relationship is said to be Amy Jackson, who shot to fame with Madrasipattinam, and B-town young gun Prateik Babbar.

Prateik has been spotted around Amy’s flat in Mumbai and the pair has been seen indulging in PDA at social dos.

Earlier, there were rumours that Shruti Hassan was living with her then boyfriend, Siddharth, while working together in the Telugu movie Anaganaga O Dheerudu.

Siddharth had just divorced his wife and apparently, Shruti had dad Kamal Hassan’s approval before moving in together.

Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu were also said to be living together, but the couple denied it and said they might consider it once they were engaged. Just like sister Soha, Saif Ali Khan is also said to be living in with long-time girlfriend Kareena Kapoor.

Says actress Soniya Agarwal, “I don’t like the idea of living in because it doesn’t have the charm of marriage. For a short while it is good, and then you tend to fight and give up on the relationship by walking out.”

Living in doesn’t come with the ‘security’ that marriage carries, such as registration, public declaration and so on.

Yet, many couples who live in feel it is easier to manage such a relationship, as it’s free of stress and dependency.

Model Priya Nayak says, “Marriages have a chance of failing too. Living in should not be considered doomed to fail. Whether you are dating for many years without getting married or just living in with the person you love, it’s pretty much the same thing.”

So is living in a step towards a happy ending or one away from it? Relationship expert and psychologist, Dr. Rajkumar, says, “Marriage is a form of discipline that society expects. Living in should not be allowed as people tend to be more heart broken and depressed if the relationship fails, as compared to those who haven’t stayed with their partners.”

To each his own, as the saying goes. Every relationship has its ups and downs; whether marriage or live-in. The important thing is to work on it when things go wrong, instead of abandoning it completely.
