He is Abhishek Bachchan’s Twitter buddy. Amitabh Bachchan follows him on Twitter too. In, fact when Jr B visits Bengaluru, he calls up Nitish S Murthy and meets him too. So who is Nitish? He is a freelance graphic designer, who got friendly with Abhishek on Drona’s Facebook homepage in 2008. It is Abhishek’s birthday today, and who better than a fan cum buddy to pay tribute to him.
“I have moved away from being mesmerised by AB’s autographs. Pictures with him and hugs from him mean the world to me. Though he calls me his friend I prefer being a fan. A fan can idolise somebody, where as a friend seldom does,” says Nitish.
Ask him the first time they met and without giving it a second’s thought he promptly responds, “December 3, 2009 at iMax, Wadala for the premiere of Paa. I was one of the lucky chosen 40 members of the Abhishek Bachchan’s Drona Heads (ABCD group) that still interact,” says Nitish.
In October 2009, the ABCD group told Abhishek to join twitter to have a closer interaction with his fans. “On November 3, 2009, before the Paa promotion Abhishek joined twitter,” he recalls.
What makes Nitish a notch cooler is the fact that Amitabh Bachchan too follows him on twitter. “I was surprised at first when I saw that Big B follows me. But being a privileged member of his extended family or as he calls us the FMXT, he follows us all.” Nitish was lucky to meet Amitabh through another Facebook page on his birthday, October 11, 2010. Nitish says, “I have been in Big B’s and AB’s offices. I spent a good ten minutes with AB in his office while he showed me around. He even showed me the crystal cube I gifted him on his anniversary that he keeps on his desk.”
Nitish makes a poster of every film that Abhishek acts in. Nitish is the privileged one who has met the entire Big B family in person, except for Baby B. But, he has seen pictures of the baby on Abhishek’s phone the last time he was in Bengaluru. About the baby he says, “In my opinion, the baby’s eyes are gorgeous like Ash and the cheeks are ditto like Abhishek’s.”
