“It’s gone away to a town called Yesterday, love ain’t here anymore…” Gary Barlow may have crooned about the loss of love, and a doomed or unfulfilled romance has inspired many an artiste. But not our B’towners. The much-vaunted “Day of Love” may find them alone, but they’re certainly not lonely.
For Bipasha Basu, the last year has been one of emotional upheavals. First, there was the rather public break-up with longtime beau John Abraham, and then reports of a troubled relationship with Rana Daggubati. V-Day finds the Bong beauty in a mood to let down her hair and relax. “For years, I’ve always been in a relationship. This Valentine’s I want to celebrate my single status, so I’m going to go all out and pamper myself. I have great friends who love me unconditionally, and I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with them,” Bips says.
A night out with friends is just what the uber glam Sonam Kapoor has planned as well. While the buzz is that Sonam has been dating director Punit Malhotra, she hasn’t ever corroborated the speculation. “I’ve already planned my evening,” says an enthusiastic Sonam. “It’s my friend Kari’s birthday, so my girl gang has organised a dinner for us. I’m going to look my best — just for myself.”
The irony of these B’towners’ situation is that they regularly top “I’d like to go on a date with” lists, but a date is exactly what they won’t be going on today. “I’ve always maintained that being in love is a great feeling,” says Shahid Kapur, who has seen his fair share of heartbreak. “I’m just waiting for the right girl, whom I can share my thoughts and life with.” Now that’s a V-Day wish we can all identify with.
