Sona Heiden's allegations: No apology from SPB Charan

It’s getting bigger by the day! A few days ago, actress-producer Sona hit the headlines after she lodged a complaint at the T. Nagar police station, accusing actor/producer/singer S.P.B. Charan, son of ace playback singer S.P. Balasubramaniyam, of molesting her at a private party.

The item girl-turned producer demanded a public apology from Charan for his ‘indecent’ behaviour and gave him a deadline of 10 days. The actress also provided video evidence to substantiate her claim, sources said.

Now, with the 10-day period coming to an end on Friday night 8.30, Sona has turned to women’s organisations for support.

Speaking exclusively to DC, Sona, laid bare her stand. “I have waited patiently till today. Though our common friends tried to mediate, I stand by what I said earlier. I want Charan to apologize in front of the media for his foul act. Either that or he should give me a written apology, which I will produce before the media.”

The Jhansi Rani Women and Children Activists’ Association has taken up cudgels for Sona. Kalpana, who heads the organisation says, “Sona may be an actress, but that doesn’t mean Charan can verbally abuse her. She is also a woman, she has dignity and we will never tolerate any injustice to a woman."

"We are thoroughly convinced by Sona’s case after she proved her charges. 500 women activists will sit and protest in front of S.P.B. Charan’s house on Monday with black flags till Sona gets justice.”

On approaching the CoP with video evidence, Sona said, “I did meet Tripathy sir with proof of my claims — video, audio and text messages. He told me to hand them over to the police station where I gave my complaint. I am still giving a long rope to Charan and waiting till Monday. If he continues to avoid apologizing, I will produce my evidence, which would put other friends like Venkat Prabhu, Premji and Vaibhav in trouble.”

Sona, who says that she has immense respect for S.P. Balasubramaniyam, is ready to meet him and explain the situation.

Good work, Sona. You must go on, such people should be punished. We your fans are in your support.

It appears that the whole incident is fabricated and designed to malign SPB & SPC. Otherwise it is impossible for someone to molest before directors & producers and that too in a party where number of people are present.

Things have really changed during the past few years. This particular issue we cant blame anyone without hearing the others person's statement. But I fully agree that there should be a law to protect rights for men
too. Days have gone where you could say that only women are being harassed.
So many laws have been implemented to protect women. There are enough provisions in our system where a woman can fight for her rights and justice. To my knowledge I haven't come across any law where a man can take help such laws. Are men expected to be culprits by default and they don't need any support from our system?

Hariji please try to understand. She has video proof to prove her point. We never come across situations where women rape men, do we?

Balasubramaniam 25/09/2011 - 11:48am

It is between Sona and SPC. Since both are film personalities they should not come out publicly. In the interest of their career they should settle it among themselves.

Looks like it is time to start an organisation to protect the rights of men. Men are nowhere when it comes to being tortured by women organizations like these. Of course more bad things happen to women in general but men also suffer at the hands of women with wrong accusations in which case everything turns against the man ie. Media, law, organisations like these and men themselves. Sad.

The issue here is about this woman who has proof that she has been molested. In the future when and if any attrocites against men will be committed by women, then we can talk about men's rights. If Sona wanted she could have filed a case against him in the court, and penalised his career and name, demanded money on the pretext of mental and physical harrassment. Let's wait and see what come out slowly in the light leading to the end of this.

Very good Sona, go and make these arrogant people repent. You should have asked the papa's boy to kneel down and apologise in front of the media.

Why are you taking SPB name here?
